Synopsis

Benjie, after years of silence, hears his friend’s voice in the wind. In the hopes of finding him, Benjie leaves his hometown for the first time. Traveling through dreams, memories, hotels, and forests, his journey takes a toll on his body and mind.

My debut feature, co-made with my brother, Jake.

What started off as a hopeful question between brothers—what if we made a feature film together?—after three years, evolved into Understory. To create this road-trip dream-film, Jake and I traveled across the Northeast with our friends and family, writing and shooting as we went. With the help of a shoe-string budget, funded by our family and Swarthmore College, we actualized nightmares, repeating forests, and hotel chains, eventually confronting their original question, and answering it.
